Segment I Classes

Segment I Requirements

Student must be minimum age of 14 years, 8 months by the first day of class
Parent will be required to present certified proof of student's birthdate at the mandatory parent meeting

Twenty-four (24) hours of classroom instruction
- In-person
- Led by a certified instructor
Six (6) hours of supervised driving
- In-presence of a certified instructor
- Drive 1 - Residential, downtown
- Drive 2 - Rural
- Drive 3 - Highway
- Drive 4 - Combination and Evaluation
- Two (2) hours will be on "The Range"
Four (4) hours of driving observation
- Will be completed with a partner during drives 1, 2, 3, 4
Written Test
- Provided by the State of Michigan
- Administered on the last day of class
- 80 questions, multiple-choice format
- Minimum passing score = 70%
